Casey Neistat

Casey is a 34 year old American YouTube daily vlogger. Every day, he releases a video that's about 8-10 minutes long, showcasing what he did the previous day. They frequently include montages of him longboarding through New York City, and timelapses of the busy city life, such as cars driving, clouds rolling in through the city skyline and sped up footage of him travelling, which are accompanied by (sometimes) fan-made music.

He has produced many notable short films, such as:

• "iPod's Dirty Secret" (November 20, 2003) which criticised Apple's policy for a non-replaceable battery in its iPod. The film received national media exposure and brought broad attention on Apple's policy towards iPod battery replacements, Apple officially announced a battery replacement policy on November 14, 2003 and also announced an extended iPod warranty program on November 21.

• "Chatroulette" (February 23, 2010) explaining what the site is and why people use it. in the video, an experiment found that people on Chatroulette are much more likely to talk to a woman. 95% went to the next person for Neistat, his female friend was clicked away by only 5%.

• "Bike lanes" (2011) Neistat made a video criticising the New York City Police Department for ticketing cyclists that don't ride in the marked bike lanes. In the video Neistat films himself receiving a $50 ticket for not riding in the bike lane. He then proceeds to intentionally ride his bike into various obstructions in the lanes, to highlight emphasise argument that the lanes are not always the safest place for cyclists to ride.

He started daily vlogging in March 2015, and has produced adverts for Nike, Google, J.Crew, and Mercedes-Benz, but specifically states that they had to let him make it how he wanted to. He has also launched his own company, Beme, a social networking app allowing users to share unedited 4-second videos, which you can't view before posting, because he feels that it shows who people really are.

I find him influential because he can produce such high quality, entertaining videos every day, especially his use of timelapses. I have been considernig having one in our music video, and seeing him do it so frequently makes me want to try it even more.
