Initial Ideas
When we first got our briefs, we made notes about the pros and cons of each, locations that first came to mind, and the names of people that would be suitable for characters in our piece, after deciding we were going to do a music video.
These are general notes about G324, and things that should be involved in the planning, research and product.
Our group was only 3 strong when we started, so we all suggested a song that we thought would work.
These are some of our very initial ideas after having listened to the songs a few times over.
Here are some of Philippa's pros and cons of the briefs we were given. (Some were suggested in our group, others, like her previous experiences were to do with her.)
We listed the first genres of music that came to mind to help us narrow down our song choice. As you can see, James Bay was immediately thought of for soul.
This shows our first thoughts about the narrative.
After listening to quite a few songs, we made a shortlist of the ones we agreed on.
We thought to analyse some breifly, the lyrics of our 3 most likely in depth (which can be found with the following buttons) and mention that we thought of the others.

Here are some of our initial suggestions for locations. We thought at this point that we would have a beach, so listed possible ones, and whether they are sandy or rocky.
We also thought that having memories would be a good idea, so thought of places where families might go, and memories are made, including the possible activities.
Here we discussed possible techniques we could use while filming, after having looked at the video for James Bay - Let it Go
As our video should involve some performance, as well as narrative, we talked about people that would look convincing as they lip-snyched to the song.
We are thinking of having a couple in our video, so noted down people that might look like they were actually a couple.
After completing our research, we went back to planning, and started to finalise our ideas. Here's some of the noted I made during our discussions.
We listed the potential openings for our video, and where we could go form them.
We're still probably going to have acting during the chorus and narrative in the verses.
Starting and finishing the video at the same loaction - The bench were they first started going out with each other.
Having Ben grow his beard, then shave mid-way through, but filming in reverse order would make it look like he get scruffy as time goes on.
At this point, we're sure about not having an old couple looking back at their memories, because there would be too many locations and actors.
We could still include looking at photos, and still having multiple locations, just not as many.
